The Vargrim Lodge
A monthly miniature-painting membership for hobbyists who want to finish their pile of shame, improve their craft, and join the Vargrs at the edge of the firelight.
Most hobbyists do not need more grey plastic. They need momentum, structure, accountability and a reason to finish what they already own. The Vargrim Lodge exists to help you turn neglected models into finished pieces — one monthly oath at a time.
Monthly challenges · Technique guidance · Community accountability · No random mystery-box filler.
⟡ Coming Soon ⟡The Vargrim Lodge is being shaped for future opening. Join the waitlist to be notified when founding places become available.
Vargrim Craftworks is an independent cinematic miniature commission studio focused on grimdark, atmospheric and display-worthy painting. The Lodge is built from the same craft principles — practical, honest, and purpose-driven. No overclaiming. No gimmicks. Just a serious hobby community and a reason to finish more work.
The pile grows. The progress stalls.
Every miniature painter knows the feeling. Boxes half-built. Models primed but untouched. A hero you meant to finish months ago. A full army waiting for "when you have time". The problem is not lack of passion. It is lack of structure. The Vargrim Lodge gives you a monthly rhythm: choose your oath, paint with purpose, share your progress, receive guidance, and finish more models than you would alone.
Too many projects
Your backlog keeps growing because every new idea feels more exciting than the last unfinished model.
Too much free advice
There are endless tutorials online, but very little structure telling you what to do next and how to apply it to your own models.
Too little accountability
Painting alone is easy to abandon. A monthly oath gives you a reason to return to the desk and a community to share progress with.
This is not a mystery box
The market is full of subscription boxes that send more things you do not finish. The Vargrim Lodge works differently.
| Random Hobby Box | The Vargrim Lodge |
|---|---|
| Sends more stuff | Helps you finish what you already own |
| Often random, hit-or-miss | Structured monthly quest with clear purpose |
| Passive consumption | Active progress and accountability |
| Product-first | Community and improvement-first |
| May add to the pile of shame | Designed to reduce the pile of shame |
A monthly ritual for finishing models
The Vargrim Lodge is built around one simple idea: progress compounds. Each month, members receive a new painting quest, practical guidance, community accountability and a place to show the work they complete. Over time, your finished models, skill, confidence and connection to the community all grow together.
Monthly Painting Quests
A focused challenge each month to help you make real progress without overthinking. Choose your model, take your oath, finish the work.
The Vargrim Community
Share your pledge, WIP shots and finished models with other Vargrs. Progress shared is progress compounded.
Paint-Alongs & Technique Guidance
Learn practical techniques you can apply immediately to your own models — not abstract theory.
Colour & Basing Recipes
Clear, repeatable recipes for cinematic grimdark finishes: leather, bone, iron, cloth, ruins, monsters and heroes.
Member Showcase
Finished work can be featured on the Vargrim site and social channels. Your models deserve to be seen.
Store Discounts & Early Access
Selected tiers receive store discounts, early access and priority opportunities as the Vargrim range grows.

Example Lodge Quests
The First Oath
Finish one neglected model from your pile of shame. Any range. Any scale. Just finish something.
Bases Before Glory
Upgrade your basing with cork, tufts, skulls, texture and atmosphere. Learn to ground your models properly.
Leather, Bone & Iron
Practise dark fantasy materials across one infantry model. Repeatable, satisfying, cinematic results.
The Hero Under Firelight
Paint a character model with cinematic focus and warm contrast. Elevate your display painting.
The Rescue Relic
Repair, repaint or redeem an old model. Nothing wasted. Everything has a second chance.
The Warband Reveal
Finish and photograph a small connected group of models. A cohesive warband, complete and ready.
Every quest is designed to be achievable, useful and satisfying. This is not about perfection. It is about finishing work you are proud to place on the table or in the cabinet.
Is the Lodge for you?
The Lodge is for you if:
- You own more unpainted models than you would like to admit
- You want to paint more consistently
- You enjoy grimdark, cinematic and atmospheric miniatures
- You want practical guidance, not endless theory
- You like the idea of a monthly hobby ritual
- You want to be part of a serious but welcoming painting community
The Lodge may not be for you if:
- You only want random miniatures delivered monthly
- You want instant results with no practice
- You dislike sharing progress or taking part in community challenges
- You are looking for a cheap mystery box rather than a guided hobby membership
The Vargrim Supply Chest
The Lodge is primarily a progress and community membership. In future, Vargrim may add an optional physical Supply Chest for members who want curated hobby consumables matched to the monthly quest.
The Supply Chest will not be random filler. It will be practical, usable hobby stock designed to support the month's work.
Register Interest in the Supply ChestFrequently Asked Questions
No. The Vargrim Lodge is not built around sending random miniatures. It is a guided hobby membership focused on progress, painting, accountability, community and skill-building. The core membership is entirely digital. A physical Supply Chest may be added later as an optional extra — but it will be practical, purposeful stock, not filler.
No. The Lodge is suitable for motivated beginners, returning hobbyists and intermediate painters who want more structure and improvement. The quests, recipes and paint-alongs are designed to be practical and accessible. You do not need Golden Demon experience — just a willingness to finish models and engage with the community.
That is fine. The goal is progress, not shame. The monthly oath gives you structure, but the community is there to help you keep moving, not punish you for missing a month. Quests carry forward. The Lodge will still be here next month.
Direct critique is included in higher tiers — The Inner Circle (one monthly WIP critique submission) and The Relic Seat (monthly private video critique). Lower tiers still receive community interaction, general guidance and access to the technique archive. If direct feedback matters to you, The Inner Circle at £29/month is the appropriate entry point.
The core membership is digital and community-led. A physical Supply Chest may be added later as an optional extra for members who want curated hobby consumables matched to the monthly quest. This will be separate from the core membership and will not be mandatory.
Yes. Membership is monthly and you may cancel at any time. Cancellation terms follow the active Shopify subscription and payment app settings. You will retain access until the end of your paid billing period. No long-term contracts, no exit fees.
